Licensed by the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), it uses a broadcast infrastructure that automates various processes, from news feeds to sound engineering, reducing the need for human intervention.
There are live programmes such as weather reports and news, as well as pre-recorded interviews using voice cloning technology.
“Our AI-generated content will be entirely Nigerian, with AI agents able to understand local languages and accents. We aim to create Afro-centric content that truly resonates with our audience,” said Dozy Mmobuosi, promoter of Tingo AI Radio.
This comes as Nigeria seeks to capitalize on artificial intelligence, with a national policy aimed at stimulating innovation and strengthening its technological sovereignty.
