Chad nears finish line with national data centre

15 January 2025

Chad is about to finalize the construction of its national data centre, which should help the country fully enter the digital age.

Chad's National Digital Data Center is now in the advanced stages of construction. The infrastructure, with a surface area of 500m² and spread over four levels, was designed to meet the country's digital data storage, management and processing needs. This project, funded by China, is being carried out by Huawei Technologies and technically supervised by GOLF Consulting.

The construction of the data centre is one of the components of the Electronic Communications Infrastructure Modernization Project (PMICE) launched in July 2020. This project includes other components, in particular the meshing of 1,200 km of optical fibre across the national territory and the modernization of the SOTEL Group through the installation of the heart of the network of the mobile telephone company SALAM.

The commissioning of this infrastructure could allow the country to better position itself on the continent in terms of digital development.
