Liberia Revenue Authority opts for Starlink

18 November 2024

The Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), Liberia’s tax authority, recently announced the receipt of 50 terminals from the American satellite internet operator Starlink.

They are funded by the International Development Association (IDA) and the Government of Sweden, under the Public Financial Management Reform and Institutional Strengthening Project (PFMRISP). The equipment, worth $162,000, is intended to improve internet connectivity in the country’s tax and customs offices, including in rural areas where internet access is still limited.

“This initiative is critical to the rollout of the Liberia Integrated Revenue Administration System (LITAS) and the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) to all our business and customs offices across the country. Achieving our annual revenue goal of reaching billions requires bold and intentional action, and this Starlink installation is critical,” said LRA Commissioner General James Dorbor Jallah.
