Etisalat hits up Ericsson for site sharing capabilities

29 August 2024

Telecom operator e& Egypt (Etisalat) has signed a partnership agreement with Ericsson to modernize its network infrastructure. The initiative will, among other things, facilitate site sharing with other Egyptian operators.

Ericsson will integrate its 20-port antennas into e& Egypt's network. By integrating multiple frequencies and technologies into a single radio site, Ericsson's antenna system improves network performance and coverage without requiring additional power sources.

Other operators such as Telecom Egypt, Vodafone and Orange will be able to more easily connect to e&'s antennas to provide their services in areas where their own network is weak or non-existent. By improving this access solution, e& will be able to generate additional revenue by charging these operators for the use of its infrastructure.
