Augustin Kibassa Maliba, the minister of posts, telecommunications, new information and communication technologies (PT-NTIC) of the DR Congo, will oversee the development of the telecommunications sector in Africa..png?lu=675)
Kibassa Maliba assumes this responsibility after his country was appointed to the presidency of the board of directors of the African Telecommunications Union (ATU). During his term, the new chairman of the board of directors wishes to achieve both individual and collective objectives.
"The repatriation of the ATU headquarters to the DRC is our strategic priority aimed at strengthening our position and leadership within the African continent," said Kibassa Maliba. He also reaffirmed the DRC's commitment to always work alongside its African peers to find suitable solutions through discussions and reflections to harmonize our political and strategic frameworks in order to achieve the objectives of the African Union's Agenda 2063.
The discussions to harmonize political and strategic frameworks correspond to the desire for strengthened cooperation between states, expressed during the meeting by the prime minister of the DRC, Judith Suminwa Tuluka.
In Africa, several obstacles still hamper the development of the telecommunications sector, which is at the heart of the digital economy. The lack of joint investment in telecoms infrastructure and network construction, as well as inadequate regulatory frameworks, which lead to delays in projects such as roaming across the continent, are some examples.
