Nigeria needs some 700 billion naira to fill the gaps in national mobile network coverage, according to Umar Danbatta, executive vice chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).
These funds should be used to strengthen the national telecoms infrastructure, particularly in rural areas. According to Danbatta, this would promote the widespread availability and use of the mobile telecommunications network throughout the country. He also urged the federal government to declare a state of emergency in the telecom sector.
