Mobilis conducts successful 5G trials

23 April 2025

Mobilis has successfully conducted its first technical tests of 5G technology at its headquarters in Algiers. This experimental phase is an essential milestone as Mobilis prepares for the commercial launch of 5G services, which is set for the second half of 2025.

The tests yielded impressive results, demonstrating connection speeds of up to 1.2Gbps alongside significantly reduced latency. These findings reaffirm the network's capability to comply with international performance standards. During the testing phase, various demonstrations showcased the potential applications of 5G technology, including virtual tours of tourist sites, cloud gaming experiences, and live streaming through augmented reality glasses.

Conducted under real-world conditions, the tests highlighted the 5G network's capacity to connect multiple devices simultaneously without sacrificing quality, addressing a critical challenge for urban areas with high device density.

This full-scale testing comes at a pivotal moment as Algeria completes the necessary technical and regulatory frameworks for a nationwide 5G rollout. Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, confirmed the timeline for the rollout, which aligns with directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. The president endorsed the project's progress during the Council of Ministers meeting in April.
