This initiative is designed to meet the rapidly growing demand for communication services and digital solutions among citizens, support sustainable community growth, and create a robust platform for the country's digital transformation.
In addition to expanding its infrastructure, Ethio Telecom has undertaken a proactive, study-based restructuring of its regional operations to better serve customers, enhance service delivery efficiency, and improve the overall customer experience. Recognizing the potential market demand in the South East region, the company has made structural adjustments aimed at generating substantial economic benefits for both the region and the country at large.
The existing South East Region office, based in Adama, has effectively managed a vast territory from Bishoftu to the outskirts of East Bale, overseeing numerous mobile sites, telecom infrastructure, and 128 service centres. Recent large-scale network expansion and modernization projects, which include the construction of advanced 4G LTE network sites, have created favourable conditions for the establishment of a new region.
To enhance service delivery and fully utilize the extensive telecom infrastructure developed in the area, Ethio Telecom has established the new South South-East Region office in Bale Robe. This office encompasses three administrative zones: Bale Zone, East Bale Zone, and a portion of West Arsi Zone, covering 29 woredas, 38 towns, and 471 rural kebeles.
The new region is equipped with a wide network of mobile and fixed-line service sites, significant investments in telecom infrastructure, and service centres focused on accessibility. Additionally, a dedicated team of human resources will be available to address customer needs.
The areas governed by the South South-East Region are abundant in agricultural resources, including extensive crop and flower farms, major industrial parks, significant livestock production, and growing towns with attractive tourism destinations. By fostering a closer connection to these communities and providing cutting-edge technology and digital solutions, Ethio Telecom aims to contribute to the growth of Ethiopia’s vibrant digital economy.
The launch of the South South-East Region office not only allows Ethio Telecom to serve its customers more effectively and enhance their experience, but also streamlines administrative processes and operational tasks. By collaborating dynamically with local government institutions, partners, and startups, the company is poised to introduce impactful digital solutions and telebirr services that modernize lifestyles within the local community.
