19 March 2025

Ghanaian authorities have announced plans to enhance the capabilities of the national Cybersecurity Authority (CSA), according to Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communications, Digital Technologies and Innovation.

In October 2024, Ghana adopted a national cybersecurity strategy aimed at bolstering the resilience of its digital ecosystem and enhancing its ability to combat cybercrime. According to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Ghana is recognized as a model for cybersecurity initiatives in Africa.

The country has established a national Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT) and was ranked in the Tier I category of the ‘Global Cybersecurity Index 2024,’ released in September 2024. Ghana achieved an impressive score of 99.27 out of 100 in this global assessment of cybersecurity readiness.
