30 January 2025

The Ivorian government wants to connect 240 villages by 2025 as part of the National Rural Connectivity Program (PNCR), which has a budget of 38 billion CFA francs.

The sites will be installed in several regions, including Bélier, Poro, Tchologo, Bagoué and Haut-Sassandra.18 billion CFA francs has been allocated for its implementation. The third phase, costing 10 billion CFA francs, will concern 160 additional localities. The first phase of the program was finalized in August 2024 with a cost of approximately 10 billion CFA francs. It made it possible to build 160 sites in 175 localities, impacting nearly 221,267 inhabitants.

The sites are expected to enable residents of the beneficiary areas to mobile phone services and high-speed internet.

"The move also embodies the government's desire to extend digital coverage and promote digital inclusion in the most remote areas of the country," said Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, Minister of Digital Transition and Digitalization.
