Moov Africa Gabon strengthens network with RuralStar equipment

20 January 2025

Moov Africa Gabon Telecom plans to strengthen its network in rural areas of the country, and has for this purpose acquired RuralStar equipment from Huawei to cover 10 sites.

This technology solution is designed to provide mobile and internet connectivity for rural and remote areas. It runs primarily on solar energy, with batteries to ensure continuous power, reducing reliance on power grids or diesel generators.

"In the roadmap assigned to us by the President of the Transition, General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, he had asked that we spread mobile telephony and any other infrastructure within the country. And the universal service has the answer to this public policy which aims to take into account the needs in mobile telephony, telecommunications and broadband for the populations located within the country," said Zouheir Jorio, CEO of Moov Africa Gabon.

The objective is to cover 200 villages out of the 1,253 that concentrate 6.5% of the Gabonese population and have a deficit in mobile phone and Internet coverage.
