Burkina Faso to connect 130 new public structures

03 January 2025

The Burkinabe government wants to connect 130 new public structures to the National Administration Computer Network (RESINA).

"We are in the digital age, a highly strategic sector for Burkina Faso. This is why an important part of my policy will focus on the development of electronic communications infrastructure, on improving electronic governance and on strengthening infrastructural capacities," said Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo.

Burkina Faso is continuing its digital transformation, which it has established as a central pillar of its socio-economic development. In August 2023, RESINA already connected around 2,800 administrative buildings. The ultimate objective of the project is to deploy a government intranet capable of significantly improving the productivity, effectiveness and efficiency of the administration's agents and users. The structures already connected benefit from numerous services, such as access to the administration's business applications, Internet browsing, electronic messaging and IP telephony, among others.

While the interconnection of administrative structures can help accelerate Burkina Faso's digital transformation, the country still needs to make efforts to develop ICT, particularly in terms of infrastructure.
