Eutelsat OneWeb is preparing to launch its operations in Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe. The company has organised training sessions for employees of new local partners: Dandemutande Investments Private Limited, TelOne Zimbabwe and Paratus Group.
The training focused on OneWeb Eutelsat’s low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network and the technology that supports it. Participants also learned how to install the terminals that enable customers to access broadband services.
Eutelsat OneWeb’s expansion in Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe comes as billionaire Elon Musk’s American company Starlink, which also uses low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites for its services, accelerates its African presence. The internet service provider is already operational in around ten African countries, including Botswana and Zimbabwe. In Angola, the company plans to launch its services in the fourth quarter, subject to obtaining the necessary regulatory approvals.
