The Congolese subsidiary of MTN has announced the deployment of commercial 5G, although no data for official launch has been made public.
"5G is here... Congo is preparing for transformation thanks to this revolutionary technology. Thanks to the local authorities, in particular to our Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Economy Mr. Léon Juste Ibombo and to the regulator of the telecommunications sector for this mark of progress which opens the way to new possibilities of connectivity and innovation," said MTN Congo on social networks.
This announcement follows the pilot phase launched in October 202. In a program that involved the government, local telecom operators, the Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPCE) and private sector players, MTN has taken the necessary steps to position itself in this segment some two years after the launch of its pilot phase.
