This initiative is part of the ongoing Solar for Health project, which aims to provide reliable internet access to around 400 health facilities, ensuring that even clinics in hard-to-reach areas stay connected. The Ministry of Technology and Science announced the plan following the release of Zambia’s 2026 National Budget.

Minister Felix Mutati emphasised that the deployment focuses on connecting administrative and public-facing institutions where traditional internet infrastructure is challenging to establish. The government’s strategy highlights a commitment to bridging the digital divide, with significant investments directed at communication infrastructure and satellite technology to serve underserved and unserved areas.

During the budget presentation, the finance minister reaffirmed that expanding digital infrastructure remains a top priority for the government. The move to deploy Starlink kits nationwide underscores the government’s determination to leverage technology as a key driver for inclusive economic growth and poverty alleviation, particularly in rural and remote communities. The initiative reflects Zambia’s broader vision to harness satellite technology to ensure essential services are accessible to all citizens, regardless of their location
