Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), U Mobile will leverage OCK’s expertise to accelerate the deployment of customised 5G in-building solutions tailored to the specific needs of each site. The joint effort aims to deliver rapid, cost-effective deployment while maintaining a competitive edge in offering high-quality coverage.

Additionally, the partnership will explore next-generation innovations, including solutions that incorporate artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), smart city applications, and autonomous systems — paving the way for broader digital transformation and advanced 5G use cases.

U Mobile CTO Woon Ooi Yuen emphasised that this partnership supports the telco’s goal of rolling out Malaysia’s second 5G network and achieving 80% population coverage by July 2026. He also highlighted that the collaboration will serve as a foundation for future 5G innovations and wider adoption.

Notably, OCK is the second tower company U Mobile has designated as a preferred partner for 5G in-building coverage, following a similar MoU with EdgePoint Infrastructure signed in April 2025.

This strategic move complements U Mobile’s recent appointment of Telekom Malaysia as its fibre backhaul partner in a MYR2.4 billion deal over ten years, further strengthening its infrastructure backbone for the 5G rollout.
