This new facility is designed to support up to three subsea cable systems, including the upcoming SEA-ME-WE 6, further strengthening Malaysia’s position as a regional digital hub.

The Morib CLS is an open, 7,000-square-foot facility that enables multiple service providers to interconnect and exchange data seamlessly. It is equipped with a dedicated network operations centre (NOC) offering 24/7 real-time monitoring, ensuring high operational reliability and service assurance.

TM Global emphasizes that the new CLS is built with energy efficiency and future scalability in mind. It features low-power cooling systems and solar-powered streetlights, reflecting its commitment to sustainable infrastructure development.

“Located along the Straits of Malacca — one of the world’s most vital subsea cable routes — the open CLS provides direct international access, improved route diversity, and reduced latency,” said Khairul Liza Ibrahim, EVP of TM Global. “Its proximity to Klang Valley’s data centre clusters further enhances network integration, optimizing end-to-end data transmission efficiency.”

Liza also shared plans to expand TM Global’s digital infrastructure, including scaling up data centres and edge facilities to 40MW. Additionally, construction is underway on a new AI-ready data centre in partnership with Singtel’s Nxera, with a capacity of up to 200MW, supporting Malaysia’s digital transformation ambitions.

The highly anticipated SEA-ME-WE 6 cable is scheduled to become operational next year, further elevating Malaysia’s connectivity and regional data exchange capabilities.
