The new roadmap revolves around four key technological corridors: Connectivity, Financial Services, AI & Compute, and Innovation & Scale-Up, reflecting a comprehensive vision to position the island nation at the forefront of regional digital development.

The strategy emphasizes that Mauritius Telecom’s future extends beyond traditional network operations to include the development of essential digital infrastructure necessary for the next era of global economic growth. The company aims to bolster the resilience and performance of its telecommunications infrastructure, focusing on fiber optic networks and international capacity. The Connectivity Corridor is designed to make Mauritius a reliable hub for low-latency data transit, catering to the rapid increase in regional digital activity.

In the Financial Corridor, the operator seeks to enhance cross-border financial transactions by establishing secure digital infrastructures that support payment flows, banking services, and international trade, leveraging Mauritius’s stable regulatory and financial environment. Meanwhile, the AI & Compute Corridor reflects an ambition to position Mauritius in the cloud, data processing, and artificial intelligence sectors. The strategy envisions creating sovereign computing and storage capabilities to meet rising demands for data localization and digital security.

The Innovation & Scale-Up Corridor aims to nurture the local tech ecosystem by fostering the development of digital solutions within Mauritius and facilitating their expansion into African and Asian markets. By integrating advanced connectivity, data center capacity, AI infrastructure, cloud platforms, and digital financial services, Mauritius Telecom intends to transform Mauritius into a reliable and future-ready digital hub that supports regional data flows, innovation, and business growth, the strategy document states.

This comprehensive approach underscores the company’s commitment to leveraging digital infrastructure as a catalyst for economic development, regional integration, and technological innovation across Africa and Asia.
