Leveraging Liquid’s existing IoT infrastructure, the partnership aims to deliver reliable, efficient water services driven by real-time data insights.

The integrated platform will include SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) systems for remote monitoring and control, along with geo-asset management to ensure infrastructure maintenance. Remote valve control will enable quick shutoffs and adjustments, improving operational responsiveness. Designed with multilingual support and compatibility across various networks, the solution will facilitate more accurate billing, usage monitoring, and leak detection alerts for water utilities and consumers alike.

Addressing the significant challenge of non-revenue water — estimated at around 47% of water distributed in Kenya — the partnership focuses on reducing losses through advanced leak detection, precise metering, and continuous monitoring. By curbing water wastage, utilities can increase revenue collection and unlock additional funding for infrastructure development, ultimately improving water access.

Beyond operational benefits, the smart water management system supports broader societal and environmental goals. The data generated aids ESG reporting, aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, and informs urban planning and infrastructure expansion efforts.

“Through our collaboration with DropByDrop, we’re bringing Liquid’s advanced, data-driven solutions to Kenya’s water sector. By digitising infrastructure and creating smart water ecosystems, we empower providers to serve their communities more effectively and sustainably,” said Neeraj Pradhan, Acting CEO of Liquid Kenya.
