The agreement aims to foster collaboration with civil society organizations and medical convoys operating in various governorates, expanding healthcare access through innovative digital solutions.
This initiative is part of the Digital Transformation for Sustainable Development in Egypt (DT4SDE) project, managed by the Central Department of Digital Community Development at MCIT in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project focuses on promoting equitable and sustainable access to advanced healthcare in remote areas by developing and expanding telemedicine platforms that are comprehensive, digitally automated, and scalable. It seeks to establish an integrated digital health system that connects local healthcare units with university and central hospitals, while also providing medical personnel with training and smart technological tools to improve service efficiency.
The implementation plan involves deploying mobile telemedicine units within medical convoys operated by civil society groups, allowing outreach to vulnerable populations. These units will facilitate medical examinations, initial screenings, treatment services, and awareness campaigns. The system aims to increase the number of consultations, enable the exchange of medical expertise, and connect specialized health facilities through telemedicine technologies. It also targets the rapid referral of critical cases, precise diagnosis, and overall reduction of hospital pressure, contributing to the government’s goal of healthcare equity.
The MoU is set for a two-year period, during which MCIT will oversee the preparation of digital medical units, monitor technical and operational aspects, and coordinate awareness and capacity-building initiatives with civil society organizations. Orange Egypt will fund the project in full through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs, covering the costs of equipment, training, and awareness activities, all conducted under strict standards of transparency and governance. This partnership aims to bring innovative healthcare solutions to Egypt’s most remote communities, ensuring that quality medical services reach all citizens regardless of location.
