This collaboration is set to ensure that passengers traveling within the underground sections of the Kanpur Metro will experience uninterrupted mobile network coverage.

Under the terms of the agreement, ACES India has been responsible for designing and implementing a robust in-building solution (IBS) specifically engineered to extend BSNL’s network reach across all underground metro stations and the connecting tunnels. According to both companies, this deployment represents a significant technological achievement for the region, making the Kanpur Metro the first metro project in Uttar Pradesh to offer comprehensive mobile connectivity within its underground segments.

A recent live demonstration successfully showcased full mobile signal strength and smooth data services along the underground stretches of the metro line, confirming the effectiveness of the deployed solution.

“Our collaboration with ACES India ensures a superior connectivity experience for passengers and marks a significant step forward in the development of smart infrastructure in India. BSNL subscribers can now enjoy high-quality voice and data services in the Kanpur Metro,” said Prabhansh Yadav, General Manager at BSNL.

BSNL and ACES India are not alone in targeting metro networks for enhanced connectivity. Last year, it was reported that Vodafone Idea had successfully deployed its network on a new 12.44-kilometer section of the Mumbai Metro. Similarly, Bharti Airtel announced that it had become the first service provider to offer seamless connectivity along the recently inaugurated north-south corridor of the Pune Metro in western India. Furthermore, last year, Bharti Airtel also revealed plans to provide 5G connectivity across the ten new stations of the recently inaugurated 33.5km Mumbai Metro Line-3, also known as the Aqua Line. These initiatives highlight a growing trend among Indian telcos to ensure robust and seamless connectivity within urban transportation networks.
