Bayobab appoints Niraj Shah as General Manager for data centres programme

As a key subsidiary of MTN Group, Bayobab aims to become Africa’s leading provider of digital infrastructure, utilizing its connectivity, infrastructure, and FinTech capabilities to accelerate digital transformation across the continent. The Data Centres Programme is a critical component of this vision, focusing on expanding Bayobab’s presence and establishing it as the preferred platform for hyperscalers, enterprises, and government entities seeking top-tier co-location and cloud services.

Niraj Shah brings more than 15 years of extensive experience in the data centre and digital infrastructure sectors. His leadership and entrepreneurial background include founding roles at IXAfrica and iColo, where he specialized in strategic growth, business development, partnerships, and ecosystem development. He has been instrumental in shaping Kenya’s data centre industry and has led significant projects involving hyperscalers, cloud providers, and content delivery networks.

Bayobab expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Niraj to its leadership team, citing his industry expertise and collaborative mindset as vital assets for advancing the company’s strategic objectives and driving innovation within Africa’s digital infrastructure landscape.
